1963 - Clock Work Earns Time For Motors. Daniels is a watch and clock maker. A watch and clock maker. A George Daniels watch, ?, hand made, even the components, may cost you as much as £8, 000. Obviously no ordinary watch, or watch maker.. A George Daniels creation is in fact a unique article, he is probably the only man in England handmaking watches and certainly the only one to even make the components. This 48 years old man, who won the Lord Mayor's award (for services to the Arts, literature and Sciences) last summer, is an esteemed member of the profession now but he began in a very unpretentious manner, teaching himself when he came out of the army in 1947. His first chronometer took two years to complete! Now he is member of the court of assistants of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers, Fellow of the British Horological Institute, and Horological consultant to Sothebys. He has written amongst other things, with a co-author, Standard book on antique watches'. George's workshop is in his home in Crystal Palace, it is the envy of any watchmaker, but on the walls are photos, of an entirely different subject.. Motorbikes and cars. Veteran motor vehicles, and motor racing are a passionate hobby of the famous watchmaker, he rides his BMW 90/6 motorcycle to the City everyday, and collects veteran cars and motorcycles. Georges wife, Julie enjoys helping with the motors as does their daughter Sara-Jane. George's certificate of craftmanship, and acceptance by the Clockmakers Guild, which was awarded in 1967
