Mar. 27 Treasures from Ecuador - Exhibition in Cologne: Treasures from Ecuador can presently be seen in Cologne. After already having shown art from Mexico and ancient Peru (1959), Columbian art (1962), art of the Maya culture (1966) and the art of the Nortamerican Indians (1969), the Cologne Kunsthalle now offers a vision of another great cultural region of ancient America: the history of civilization on the coast and the highlands of Ecuador, which was mainly discovered during the last two decades. About 400 objects prove the bearing of a cultural development over 5000 years at the exhibition, which has been composed by the seminar for ethnology of the university of Bonn, The collection, which has already been in Rome, Florence, Milan, Paris and Geneva, will go from Cologne to Monaco by December and afterwards to Moscow.
