Apr. 18 Christmas-Tree Decoration From Berchtesgaden/West Germany: No glass baubles embellishing a typical christmas-tree of Berchtesgaden, - it's rather a rural tree, decorated with wonderful, coloured miniature-toys. Stefan Fischer (in our picture he is just working) is one of the few rough carvers, who still produce this decoration for the christmmas-tree today. Sledges and pipe-horses, hen-carriages and carriages for Highnesses, puppets, horses of wood, chests, lanterns and many other things of the Berchtesgadener everyday life (picture-adherent) belong to the about 30 different little works of art, which are made from Bavarian spruce-wood. Costs: Every piece between 1 Dollar and 6 Dollars. Until nine years ago, the carving of little figures and other things was only a hobby for Stefan Fischer )49), - since 1971 it's his profession
