Apr. 05 Clowning is a serious business. The theory expressed in the that popular song All the world loves a clown may or may not be true, but the popularity of the clown created by Kristen Nesbett, the 28- year-old potter in her Goddelming, Surrey studio is certainly a reality. For the past year, she has been making hand made pottery clown which are fast becomming collectors pieces and have been sold both in Britain and abroad. I've always loved the circus and particularly the clowns. I used to spend hours at the circus in my native South Africa as a child and later as an art student sketching their antics, said Miss Nesbett. My clowns have become so popular that it's a bit difficult giving them all individual facial expressions, so I've gone back to the circus. This time it's the one at Chessington Zoo and I've enlisted the help of bill Thumpson, batter known as Bruno, the clown. He acts as my model, she added. I think it is sad that the circus clown is loosing some of his former glory and this is my way of restoring it
