Mar. 02, 1961 - A Baroness Patronises The Pavement Artist: Baron Heinrich Thyssen, the multi-millionaire industrialist, went with his wife to the National Gallery yesterday to see the paintings he has lent them for exhibition. Works by Hals and Holbein, Goya, E1 Grece, Ucello - the smallest of them, Holbein's portrait of Henry V111, is worth half a million. The baroness, who used to be top model Fiona Campbell-Walter, walked docilely with the baron round the exhibition. But, as she left, she suddenly stopped to look at drawings which pavement artist Fred draws daily outside the National Gallery. She borrowed half-crown from the baron and gave it to Fred. After they had gone he enquired who they were, and after being told, said Well, they were very nice about my pictures so I'll spend the half-a-crown going to see theirs.
