Apr. 19, 1961 - Miss Amy Gibbs - Milk Bottle Top And Silver Paper Artist: An exhibition is being held at the Centaur Gallery - Portobello Road - of the unusual art of Miss Amy Gibbs - an old age pensioner who lives in Kensh Town. Miss Gibb's art is unusual - for she constructs shimmering pictured from chocolate wrapping - Christmas tinsels - and milk bottle tops. She started her art work when she decided that some of her pictures were no worse than some of those she saw exhibited in the open air exhibition at Hampstead Heath. One day she hung three there - just for the fun of it. When she came later to collect them - she was surprised to find that they had been sold. Some time later she heard that a west End gallery was displaying pictures made froom cut paper - by Picasso and such like. She took two of her own there - and they were immediately purchased by the director of the gallery - for $ 2 each. Photo shows Miss Amy Gobbs - the milk bottle tp artist - at workl on one of her unusual creations
