Mar. 24, 1964 - Artist saved from 150 ft parapet: Unknown artist Ralph Wright was spotted yesterday perched on a 150ft parapet on the 12th storey of Sunlight House, one of the tallest buildings in Manchester. Wright was threatening to jump off because he said that he was a failure and nobody wanted his pictures and there was no further point in living. Police cars and fire engines surrounded the buildings, and for an hour they tried to coax him down without success. Then former Grenadier Guardsman Francis Matthews started discussing art with him, and drew some sketches for him to look at.
