May 05, 1967 - TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION.: PHOTO SHOWS:- Two of the items which will be included in the sale of fine watches and table clocks which takes place at Sotheby's on May 22nd (ON LEFT). A rare Danish clock watch for the Turkish market by Larpent Jurgensen of Copenhagen, with verge movement, the white enamel dial with Turkish numerals, the gold inner case finely pieced and engraved with tortoiseshell and with scalloped edge, 62mm. diam. (Isaac Larpent and Jeorgen Jurgensan started a watch factory at Roskilde in 1780, which produced about 1500 watches. The fact that they made watches for the Turkish market does not seem to have been recorded). (ON RIGHT) A REPOUSSE GOLD PAIR CASED REPEATING VERGE WATCH, no. 662, by Pierre Charlo, Copenhagen, with white enamel dial, pierced and engraved hands, the inner case with unusual pierced and engraved decoration of flowers enclosed in scroll frames, the outer case also pierced, the back decorated with a musical scene within the framework of roses scrolls
