Feb. 20, 1967 - 1, 5 million swiss franks theft of paintings at Zurich: From the office of a movie agency director at Zurich 4 paintings were stolen by a burglar - or burglars - at the total value of 1, 5 million swiss franks. According to police no clues were left, but it seems that the number of suspects would be rather small. Theft of paintings is very rare in Switzerland, and this one, were a Rubens is involved is rather spectacular. There were stolen: Beheading of Cyrus by Rubens, 118 x 178 cm, insurance value : 1 million sw.fr. Head of Apostle, by Jordaens, 54 x 44, 400'000 sw fr. Repairing the net, by reputed Swiss painter Ferdinand Hodler, 36 x 31 cm, 50'000 sw.fr. Return from Carnival, by Honore Daumier, 32 x 21, 50'000 sw.fr. all are oil paintings, which were cut from the frames. Photo shows the stolen painting by Rubens Beheading of Cyrus
