1967 - 165 Years of Artistic Inflation: Considering that it was last publicity sold for a mere 39 guineas, the portrait of Juan de Pareja caused a considerable fuss at a London art saleroom yesterday. But then that last sale was quite some time ago - March 27, 1801, to be precise. And now the painting by Velazquez is worth up to ? million. The portrait, together with 56 other works of art - all of them sold at one time or another at Christie's - went on exhibition yesterday to mark the company's bicentenary. Photo shows Security guards keep a watchful eye on the Velazquez, at Christie's yesterday
