Aug. 08, 1968 - Two new Guardi at the Alte Pinakothek in Munich At 7th August, 1968, the Bayerische Hypotheken - und Wechselbank handed over two paintings of the Italian Francesco Guardi to the public presentation took place in the Alte Pinakothek'. The pictures are The clock-tower at the Marcus-place (44 x 70.5 cm), and Fire in San Marucola district (42.5 x 62.5 cm). The latter shows an event from 1789, the artist covered with this painting and also with several drawings. Both works were sold to the heirs - living in New York - of Baron Nathaniel Rothschild. With these paintings the Rokoko-collection of the Bayerische Hypotheken - und Wechselbank should be completed. OPS: Fire in San Marucola district
