Oct. 10, 1968 - Prosecutor Moves Over Sale Of150, 000 Madonna: The Director of Public Prosecution is inquiring into the original sale of the150, 000 13th century Madonna and child painting. The inquiry contres on the allegations made concerning a Somrset country house sale in March, when the picture changed hands for the only2, 7000. The National Gallery then bought it for the increased amount. The painting is by the sienose artist Duccio. Art dealer Julius Weitzner, of May fair was the man who got it for2, 700 at an auction at the home of the previous owner, the late Thomas Bridson of Aldwick court, Wrington, Somerset.
