May 05, 1971 - A retired Czech joineer with an Ununsual hobby: Jan Vavra, a retired joiner from Novy Jicin, North Moravia, who worked in the pattern shop of the Tatra Automobile Works at Koprovince for many years, has another interesting hobby. His live of wood and his desire to create something individual, was the origin of his present skill and craftsmanship. From different species of wood he makes things such as vases, dishes, candlesticks, tracelets, writing sets and so on. He uses the natural colours of the wood in his work and by patient glueing and shaping produces the most beautiful ornaments.
