1971 - Rubens painting Discovered? A picture of the Rubens School, which has so far been listed as the work of an unknown author of the 17th century, has been discovered in the Art Gallery in Karlovy Vary, West Bohemia. According to the director of the Gallery, Jiri Koudelka, this painting was unprofessionally restored in the past and it is probably work of two painters. It represents a garden party in a landscape with ruins of an Antique cathedral and Renaissance castle. The figural painting closely resembles work by Peter Paul Reubens (1577-1640), reminiscent of certain periods represented by similar works, which are now in the Old Pinacoreca in Munich and in the Museum of Art in Vienna. The oil painting on an oak panel, measuring 73.5 x 105 cm, is under further investigation. A group of persons is the dominating feature of the painting
