Oct. 10, 1972 - World's most expensive book arrives: The world's heaviest and most expensive book, known as the Apocalypse arrived at Heathrow Airport from Paris today. Weighing 460lbs, and valued in excess of £425, 000 the Apocalypse is a unique book conceived and realised by the French publisher Joseph Foret, who devoted three years of his life to the vast work. The book is to be exhibited at the National Book League, as part of the National Book Week, from November 4-14. The Apocalypse consists of the text of Saint Josn, illustrated with original paintings by seven of the greatest painters of our timer: Salvador Dall, Bernard Buffet, Leoner Fini, Foujits, Mathieu, Tremois, Zadkine. The bronze cover, enriched with gold and precious stones is the creation of Salvador Deli. Seven great writers contributed their thoughts and comments on the end of the world to the book:Jean Cocteau, Jean rostan, Deniel Rops, Jean Guiton, Erneat Junger, Jean Ciono, Mac Cioran.
