Jul. 07, 1976 - The statue of Liberty is erected in Tokyo; several statues of liberty have been put up in Tokyo, Japan, in recognition of the US Bicentennial celebrations. The best of them has been erected, outside a department store. It is 12 meters high, is made of steel and plaster, weights 20 tons and it took 10 sculptors 1 1/2 months to make, from a blueprint supplied by the American Embassy in Tokyo.
