Aug. 08, 1978 - CHAIN SAW ARTIST CUTS WAY £6, 000 GRANT: RON HASELDEN, 34, a university lecturer who cut up a rotting lifeboat with a chain-saw on the mud flats of Canvey Island, Essex, and is now reassembling it in a Covent Garden art gallery, won a £6, 000 grant from the Arts Council yesterday, Mr Haselden is now going to re-build the boat by sewing it together with wire.
