Sep. 26, 1979 - ?500, 000 Gold Figure of a man stolen in London : This gold figure of a man which is worth ? 500, 000, was stolen in London last Friday, it was part of a collection to be auction in Zurich next month. Choice pieces worth millions of Pounds were on exhibition at the dealers, Spink and sons, the figure was made in Persia in about 500 Bc and is 4 1/2 inches high. The theft happened on only five minutes, As three men gathered round the showcase, this obscured it from closed circuit television system. The police said they didn't know whether the piece was stolen for a ransom. The figure is worth only ?2, 000 if melted down
