Dec. 14, 1978 - First women Porter at Bonhams: Sally Pugh has been appointed the first women porter in any British auction house, She will work in the Oil Paintings department, along wih six male colleagues, Sally, 18 joined Bonhams in October as a receptionist. When one of teh porters in the Oil Paintings department left she approached the head of teh department and got the job.
