1963 - Everything in 74 year-old Sids Garden is old London. Everything in 74 year-old SID JAMESS garden is not only beautiful, it is a masterpiece of his own hand work. Out of the rubble from demolition sites he has collected pieces and has created a garden that has attracted visitors from far and near. SID who was born in Wast Ham with just a backyard always wanted a garden. He achieved his ambition when he moved with his wife Phyllis to Laindon 25 years ago. During the summer he spends all his spare time in the garden. Materials have come from churches that he has repaired or altered. The tower on his summer housesis built from St. Dunstons Church, Stepney, He claims to have the one piece of stone existing from Londons Trinity Church, His garage is partly built from stones from Waterloo and Charing Cross Stations. Sid says it will take another ten years before the work is completed. Ten years is a long time but SID is determined to press on, whatever the cost, at his wonder garden of the Arterial Road in Goodview Road, Laindon, Easex.
