Anton Rubinstein, Russian pianist, composer and conductor
Nov. 11, 1979 - Birthday of Anton Rubinstein 150 years ago: on November 28th 1829 in Wechowctynez (Wolhynia) Anton Rubinstein was born. The Russian pianist, composer and music writer founded in the year 1862 the conservatoire of St Petersburg. He was a beloved piano-player and as composer of the German romantic-period he preferred Mendelssohn. Anton Rubinstein represented the academic direction of Russian music. Works: operas, Oratorios, chamber music, piano works and symphonies. Rubinstein died on November 11th in a village near St Petersburg
