Apollo 11 - Man's First Moon Walk
Sep. 23, 1969 - Space suit at Olympia: AS Apollo II space suit identical to the suits worn by this Apollo II astronauts on their moon landing on July 20, will be worn on a scheduled Sabena Flight from London to Brussels this afternoon, to illustrate a lecture being given by Dr. Harry Thomas of Courtaulde on Textiles in Space Travel at the Textile Institute International Conference in Brussels today. Du Pont is featuring the space suit on its stand at the Dust Control and Air cleaning exhibition, which opened at Olympia today and the Apollo II space suit uses a number of Du Pont products in its composition: Teflon flourocarben fibre, Nomex Xapton polyimide nylon, Lyora elasomeric fibre. Zapton Polyimide film, Mylar polyester film and neoprene synthetic rubber.
