Jan. 01, 1976 - Son May Save Stately Home: Mr. Thomas Stonor, 35, eldest son of Lord and Lady Camoys who are selling their 11th-century ancestral home, Stonor Park, near Henley-on-Thames, because of rising costs, is believed to have made an attempt to buy the property to keep it in the family. The 35-roomed mansion stands in 360 acres of park-land in the Chilterns. It has belonged to the Camoys family since before the Norman conquest - the longest time an aristocratic family has been in one home in Britain. Lord and lady Camoys have decided to sell Stonor Park and its contents because of inflation, with the property alone costing20, 000 a year to run. Yesteday hundreds flocked to the house to view the contents which are to be auctioned this week. The house is to be sold later.
