Jun. 25, 1954 - Soviet whaling Florilla completes eight Antarctic trip: The Soviet Russia Slava whaling flotilla has just returned to Odessa at the completion of its eight trip to the Antarctic. The flotilla took first place for the number of whales caught winning the Blue Riband of the Ant-Arctic. 3, 092 whales were killed and 28, 750 tons of oil obtained.
