Mar. 20, 1957 - 20-3-57 Meet of the Devon and Somerset Stag Hounds The Devon and Somerset Stag Hounds met yesterday at the Somerset village of Bury. Mrs. Cecily Norman, of the Ilfracombe branch of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals took a placard to the meeting bearing the words Ilfracombe demands outlaw this cruelty. The stag in its desperate bid to escape plunged into the River Barle, near Dulverton. There it was shot as it turned to face the relentless hounds.
