Secret Friends: Somewhere in East Anglia, four-year-old Christian, is playing hide-and-seek with his secret pal, a young wild fox. Exactly where, and the boy's surname, have to be kept secret because the boy's father works for a hunting farmer. The relationship between boy and fox has grown since the end of last Summer when the boy found the fox in his parents garden. The cub was exhausted and unable to move, according to Christian's mother. The fox was fed, recovered its strength, and left the safety of the garden. To the family's surprise, and Christian's delight, a fortnight later the animal returned. More scraps were left out, and a tin of dog food found acceptable. Three weeks elapsed, and as hopes of a return faded, without warning the growing cub re-appeared. Although wary of the parents, the fox seemed anxious to make friends with the boy who named ti Bobby'. Ever since, sometimes only monthly, once after five weeks sometimes more frequently, Bobby pays a visit to hi little friend, and stays for about an hour, eats what it is offered, stays for a romp, a game and then disappears. Bobby lets its presence be known by scratching at the back deot, stepping back till it is opened and waiting for food. Favourite now is milk and raw egg. Christian dreads that news of his pal will get to the fox hunting employer who surely could try to break up this uncauny friendship and mutual trust
