May 16, 1953 - Heroldsbach's Erscheinungsh?gel, or Apparition Hill, was occupied by opponents of the decision to demolish the area. When demolition crew showed up, someone sounded the alarm, but only a few men came. Eventually, the area was forcibly evacuated. Everything in the area except the chapel was removed. Whether or not the chapel will be as well was not yet decided. Pictured here are ex-communicated pastor Father Dettman and a police officer watching from afar
