Nov. 11, 1953 - Holland closes the breeches. the final dykes are placed into position. Photo shows: Work goes on far into the night with the aid of flood lights - as the final caissons are placed into position at Ouwerkerk at the Isle of Schouwan. The placing of these caissons concludes the work that has been going throughout the Netherlands to repair the damages caused by the disastrous floods of February this year..Each of the caissons are about 60 metes in length
