Feb. 02, 1958 - Restoration of the Painted hall - Greenwich; Work has started on the restoration of the Painted hall, at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich - a task that is expected to take about two years to complete. The huge ceiling which measures 105 ft. by 46 ft. was painted by Sir James Thornhill in the early part of 18th century - and took him more than 20 years to complete. He received only1, m000 for the task and now the restoration work is expected to cost about20, 000.
