1959 - Work progresses on the new Coventry cathedral the massive walls of the Nave. Much progress has been made on the construction of the new Coventry cathedral - taking the place of the building wrecked in the blitz. The walls of the new building are now about 80ft. from ground level. The new cathedral stands at right angles to the old building and runs from North to South - but the north end is to be known liturgical as the east end. when complete the nave will be 270 ft.
