Dec. 12, 1958 - Tokyo's Eiffel Tower To Be Inaugurated By Prince Akihto: Crown Prince Akihto is to performs the ceremony of inaugurating Tokyo Tower on December 23rd - his 25th.birthday. The Tower is the tallest structure ion Asia - is 1, 108ft. (104 feet taller than the Eiffel Tower) and will serve five television stations. Costing Seven million Dollars the tower is built to withstand earthquakes and up to 150 m.p.h. winds of typhoons. Its legs are anchored in 65 ft. deep solid concrete, From the observation platform - visitors can see whole of Tokyo embracing 786 square miles taking in nearly 100 villages and action.
