Aug. 08, 1958 - Multi-Storey Maisonettes In London's East End. Unique Design For Individuality. View of the newly designed sixteen storey building in course of construction in Bethnal Green, London. The building is to contain 56 maisonettes and 8 bed-sitting room flats. It is in five sections and is being constructed for the Bethnal Green Borough Council. There is an independent central core, 170ft. high, which has the staircase, two lifts, drying platforms and refuse chute. Stretching out form this centre are four blocks - 150ft. high and 40ft. long - 26ft. wide. The design gives each flat individuality.
