Mar. 22 Space-Age accuracy: This project Advent space communication antenna, believed to be the most accurate in the world, stands near completion at a Fort Dix site. The 60-ft. parabolic antenna reflector, weighing nine tons, was placed top the sturdy pedestal and rotation-elevation mount recently. Standing 102-ft overall, the antenna will perform vilai functions in communicating with and tracking military ADVENT satellites. Project ADVENT is the Department of Defense research and development program to determine the feasibility of a reliable military communication system for instantly relaying messages anywhere in the world through active-repeater satellites hovering in the 22, 300 mile high stationary orbit above the equator. Administrative and technical direction for the program is provided by the U.S.A. Army Advent Management Agency, Fort Monmouth, commanded by Brig Gen William M. Thames.
