Apr. 05 Houte Passing Realistic Be Re-Consecrated By The Pope: On February 15th, 1944, the beautiful Abbey of Montecessino, parched on its hilltop above the town of Cassino, and held by the Germans, was completely destroyed by Allied Aircraft. - and much of the town below with it. Today both are rebuilt and the Abbey is to be reconsecrated by the Pope in June. But there are still many reminders of the obstruction of that days there is the tank, still standing by the roadside in Cassino, left there since 1944, there, are the giant heeps of rubble, the remains of the old Abbey, at the feet of the new one, there is the Polish cemetery.
