Aug. 08, 1960 - Rent Rebel man barricades his flat against the Bailiffs: Let the battle commence that defiance challenge was flung down from a block of flats in Leighton Road, Kentish Town, yesterday, where rent rebel Don Cock sits barricaded in, waiting for the bailiffs to arrive. He has enough provisions for a long siege, and from a window a signal rocket pokes out. If the bailiffs arrive, it will shoot skywards and bring 2, 000 other rebellious tenants to his aid. The deadline was midnight last night, when a court order says that Don must quit his council flat. He has refused to pay the double rent which the St. Panoras council is demanding from many tenants. Photo shows Mr. Cock, seen at top of picture, as he spoke to some of the tenants from his roof-top barricade
