May 05, 1963 - New Radio telescope at Cambridge: The new radio telescope which the Ministry of Public Building and Works is erecting for Professor Ryle and Cambridge University, is nearing completion at its site five miles outside Cambridge. The equipment which is costing £450, 000 comprises three dishes, one of which moves on rails, and the whole installation extends over nearly a mile in a straight line that deviates only about the thickness of a threepenny piece.
