May 05, 1963 - Worlds biggest pumping elevator power plant is under construction at Vianden on the Our, a small river dividing Germany and Luxembourg. A giant dam holds the water in a big resevoir. At night it is pomped up 800 feet high to a great reservoir holding 7 million cubicmeters of water. The power plant, which will be completely ready in 1964, will produce 1, 3 milliards of kilowatt-hours of electricity. In the first phase completed now, it produces 600 million kilowatthours. Photo shows the dam near Vianden, only a little smaller as the towers of the anciant church
