Nov. 11, 1960 - Sensation at Tower Bridge. Man says he intends to dive from the top.: There was a sensation this afternoon at Tower Bridge - when a man climbed from ground level to the upper supports of Tower Bridge - saying that it was his intention to dive from the top into to river. Police were soon on the spot - and with the aid of a loud hailer - persuaded him to come down - as diving into the river would probably mean certain death. A fire engine escape was used to get him to the ground and into the arms of the law. He is Mr. Johnny Sanger. Photo shows looking up at Johnny Sanger - high up on the bridge supports today
