Jul. 07, 1965 - New Restaurant for Hyde Park; A new restaurant of strikingly original design, was opened in Hyde Park today by Mr.James Boyden, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Public Building and Works. Called the Dell Restaurant, it is roughly circular in design, though the actual basis of the structure is an octagon, which has been used to avoid the need for curved surfaces. Exterior walls are made entirely of glass, while a covered terrace, part of which overhangs the water, runs almost completely round the building. The umbrella like roof is surmounted by a copper covered dome. Designed by Patrick Gwynne, it will be operated by Fortes and Company.
