1968 - London's Oxford circus loses it's Umbrella': London's Oxford Circus will be losing it's umbrella, the temporary road bridge which was built ever the permanent road surface in 1963 during the building of the new Victoria Underground line. Work will be going on over this Easter week-end, and normal traffic will be resumed there after the Bank Holiday. Photo shows this is a view of the main booking hall which is under construction and has been excavated under Oxford Circus
