Feb. 23, 1968 - Architect Who Designed Block Of Flats Moves In As A Sociological Experiment: Architect Mr. Erno Goldfinger designed the East End's tallest block of flats for the Greater London Council, and then moved into one of them. He has taken the flat for a month, at the full rent of ?11 10s plus rates as a sociological experiment, to discover the advantages and drawbacks of life in high-rise dwellings. Tenants of the other 145 flats pay subsidised rents of ?4 15d 6d. Mr. Goldfinger and his wife, Ursula have taken a flat on the 24th. floor of Balfrom Tower, Poplar. He said he has found only a few snags, and his first week had confirmed his view that tall blocks with open spaces were the Ideal of the moment'.
