1970 - Headquarters of the Economic Commission for Africa: A view of Africa Hall, Headquarters of the Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. Construction of Africa hall began in July 1959, and the building was formally inaugurated on February 6, 1961, by Emperor Haile Scilasste on the ave of the opening of the third session of the economic Commission for Africa. Conceived and designed by the Italian architect, arture Mezzediml, the hall was built under the general supervision of the ministry of Public Works and Communications of the Ethiopian Government. African Hall is composed of two buildings, which are connected by passageways. They are situated on the site and in relation to each other in such a way as to allow for future expansion without marring the basic architectural scheme or disrupting the view
