Today the place is a cross point of the underground lines which were built for the Olympics 1972 and the centre of a systems of pedestrian ways which will reach out to parts of the shopping streets of the historical city centre. The Marienplatz with the gotic town hall, behind which the towers of the Frauenkirche can be seen is one of the most visited places in the Olympic City. Photo shows the Marienplatz in the year 1750/ The Marienshule, in the centre of the square is still there today
