Aug. 21, 1973 - Olympic tent roof - one year after the games of Munich: A bit like a hot tin roof. that's what the daringly constructed roof seems to be to the Munich public. Now the construction section of the city council ordered a crew of repair men to the site, in order to cover parts of the unprotected rope, that hold the roof in place. After the ropes have been coated the hollow space between ropes and coatings will be filled with plastic material. Though some experts say, that this repair job is unneccessary, since the ropes are galvanized heavily enough, to be able to withstand corrosion. In any case the estimated costs will amount to about 7 million marks. The tent roof construction turned out to be a costly one from the very beginning, for the actual costs exceeded the estimated ones ten times. Also shortly after completion the used acryllic roofing material changed its light colour and shows now many a brown spot which are caused by sunlight
