Architecture - Construction - Design - Housing

Mar. 03, 1984 - Unusual round built energy house; Swiss 63 year old designer and architect Otto Kolb has built for his family at Wermatswil near Zurich, Switzerland, a round built house, which is extraordinary under many aspects. It consists of much glass at the outside (3 times glass) and much recycled iron inside. On the southern sunside it is surrounded by water, partly used as a swimming pool, which reflects sun onto the glass on the windows. As energy saving is one of the main aims of the house; The round form, says the owner/architect makes less obstacle to wind and weather. And sun energy collectors on the roof give warm heating energy inside, together with a cheminee-heating in case of needs. Photo Shows 1/ outside view 2/otto kolb in his new extraordinary home
