The Security Council heard statements by the Foreign Minister of Ecuador and representatives of Chile, El Salvador and Argentina as it continued consideration of measures for the maintenance and strengthening of international peace and security in Latin America in conformity with the provisions and principles of the Charter'. The Council also gave a hearing, under rule 39 of its rules of procedures, to Hector Gros Espiell, Secretary-General of the Agency for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America (OPANAL).
