Feb. 29 New Mexico, Newest State in the Union, is comparatively backward: But its air is like crystal, and its interest absorbing: Little villages, half old, half shanty and new, like this, abound on the outskirts of the capital Santa Fe, and around the larger Albuquerque, further South. Always are the colourful foothills in the distance, lending a facination and charm to this rugged, oldest inhabited part of the U.S.A
