Mar. 03, 1956 - Cyprus Turks Riot in Nicosia. Dr. Kutchek - Turkish leader in Cyprus: There was a Turkish riot of revenge in Nicosia today - a mob of between two and three hundred youths - carrying red Turkish Crescent flags careered through the streets trying to close shops and drag down metal shutters. This was a violent Turkish protest against yesterday's incident at Vassilia when 20 Turkish women and children were injured by Greeks in a drunken riot. The Turkish leader of the Island is Dr. Fazil Kutchek - who today One more incident like that at Vassilia them there will be real trouble in the Island'.
