Dec. 12, 1958 - Better conditions for the troops in Cyprus; A statement by Lieut. Col. Frank Watson Ass. Adjutant General in Cyprus says that1, 000, 000 is being spent on general improvements to British camps on the island. This followed his tour of a Lancashire Fusillier Camp - after publication in London of a letter from a Royal Signals Warrant officer - complaining that his men were living in leaky tents in conditions not fit for pigs'.
