Oct. 10, 1960 - Trial Of Former Turkish Leaders Mr. Adan Menderes In The Box: the trial has opened in the gymnasium of the Turkish Reserve Officer School on the Island of Yassida of leaders in the fallen Menderes regime...The island lies about 12 miles from Istanbul in the Sea of Marmara. the leaders are charged with altering and abrogating the constitution - an offence under the penal code which carriers the death sentence. Included in the 800 standing trial are Dr. Celal Bayar the 77 year old former President - and Mr. Adan Menderes the former Prime Minister.
